Eric Helm was born and raised in northern Illinois and is currently living in Colorado.  He received a bachelor's degree in engineering physics and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Colorado.  Eric had a 35-year career in environmental remediation and highway construction and is currently retired, living in Colorado.  He was a founding board member and fundraising chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of Stephenson County, and an allocations committee member of the United Way of Northwestern Illinois.

Eric joined the board of the Civil Conversations Project at the request of founder and friend, Wayne Hare, as an unofficial representative of the CCP’s target audience.  Having participated in many formative conversations with Wayne while on mountain bike adventures and river trips then following Wayne’s work as he launched the Civil Conversations Project, Eric is excited to continue contributing to the CCP mission as a board member.
